The Norwich rain garden has a mix of perennials, grasses and shrubs. The selected plants tend to do well in rain gardens as they can tolerate wet conditons, but also very dry conditions. Many of these plants are native to Connecticut. The plants are grouped to produce a nice visual impact. Once planted, a vegetative ground cover of hardwood mulch was applied to reduce weeds and conserve moisture when conditions are dry.
